These terms govern your use of Townsville Accountants (the "service", "site", or "we"), operated by TownsvilleAccountants.com.au, based in Townsville, Queensland. By using the site or completing our matching quiz, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What we are (and what we aren't)

Townsville Accountants is a free matching service that connects North Queensland residents and businesses with qualified, registered tax agents and accountants. We do not provide accounting, tax, or financial advice ourselves.

In plain English: we are a referral service. We collect information about your situation via a short quiz, match you against five accountant profiles, and pass your details to one local Townsville accountant who fits your situation. That accountant then contacts you directly to discuss your needs.

We don't provide accounting, tax, bookkeeping, financial, or investment advice. Anything on this site — including blog posts, persona descriptions, fee ranges, and FAQ answers — is general information only. It is not advice, and it does not consider your personal circumstances. Always consult a registered tax agent or qualified accountant before making decisions based on what you read here.

The service is free for you

You will never be charged for using this matching service. We earn our income from the accountant we match you with — they pay us a small referral fee for the introduction.

To be clear about how that incentive works: we are paid the same amount regardless of how much you eventually pay the accountant. We have no commission, no kickback, and no incentive to push you toward a more expensive option.

No guarantee of outcome

We do our best to match you well, but we can't guarantee:

• That you'll be a good fit with the accountant we match you with
• That you'll be happy with the quote they provide
• That the accountant will deliver any specific result for your business or tax situation
• That you'll save money on your accounting fees or your tax bill

If the match isn't right, tell us and we'll try again with a different accountant. There's no charge for this and no obligation to proceed.

Your relationship with the matched accountant

Once we pass your details to a matched accountant, your relationship with that accountant is between you and them. Any engagement letter, quote, fees, advice, services delivered, and dispute resolution is governed by your direct arrangement with them — not by us.

Specifically:

• We are not party to any contract you enter with the accountant
• We are not liable for the quality of advice or services they provide
• We are not liable for their fees, missed deadlines, or errors
• If you have a complaint about an accountant's professional conduct, you can raise it with their professional body (CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, IPA) or the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB)

Accuracy of information

We try to keep the site accurate and up to date, but tax law, accounting fees, and the businesses we work with all change. We don't guarantee that information on this site is current, complete, or accurate at the time you read it.

Fee ranges shown for each persona are indicative only, based on typical Townsville market rates at the time of writing. Your actual fee will be quoted by your matched accountant based on your specific situation.

Your obligations

When using this service, you agree:

• To provide accurate information in the quiz and contact form
• Not to misuse the service (spam submissions, false details, fake referrals)
• Not to attempt to access the site or its systems in any unauthorised way
• Not to use the site to harm, harass, defame, or deceive anyone
• To be 18 years or older, or have a parent or guardian's involvement if younger

Intellectual property

The content of this site — including text, design, layout, code, and branding — is owned by Townsville Accountants. You may share links to the site freely. You may not copy substantial portions of the site or use our content in your own commercial materials without permission.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law (including the Australian Consumer Law where it applies and cannot be excluded):

• We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss arising from your use of the service
• Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us — which, since the service is free, is zero dollars
• Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded

If you are a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law, you have rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing here affects those rights.

Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. By using the service you also agree to that policy.

Third-party links

The site may contain links to third-party websites (regulatory bodies, software vendors, news articles). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.
